The OneWeb satellite constellation is a proposed constellation of satellites expected to provide global internet broadband service to individual consumers.

The company plans to orbit a total constellation of 700 satellites, operating in circular low Earth orbits of 800 kilometres (500 mi) and 950 kilometres (590 mi), with half of the satellites operating at each altitude. The communication satellites will operate in the Ku band of the radio frequency spectrum, with 20 satellites operating in each of 20 different orbital planes to provide consistent coverage.

Description

OneWeb’s mission is to enable affordable Internet access for everyone and is building a communications network with a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will provide connectivity to billions of people around the world. With more than 10 terabits per second of new capacity, it will transparently extend the networks of mobile operators and ISP’s to serve new coverage areas, bringing voice and data access to consumers, businesses, schools, healthcare institutions and other end users.

User terminals provide high-speed connectivity with no change in latency during satellite handovers to ensure excellent voice quality, gaming and web experience. Our patent‑pending terminals can be self-installed. They are small, affordable and so efficient they can operate with optionally included solar panels, battery packs, and WiFi/LTE/3G and 2G radios to provide coverage directly to cell phones, tablets and laptops.
