Viettel Group Partners with Juniper Networks to Upgrade Network Infrastructure

Juniper Networks has announced a significant partnership with Viettel Group, Vietnam’s largest telecommunications conglomerate. Viettel Group has chosen Juniper’s MX960 Universal Routing Platform to revamp its network infrastructure, enabling it to scale its consumer mobile and fixed broadband services seamlessly.

Vietnam has the fastest-growing digital economy in Southeast Asia, with 77 million internet users. Viettel Group, ranked as Vietnam’s most valuable brand and among the Top 500 Most Valuable Brands in the World in 2022, is a global telecommunications leader, serving over 70 million mobile subscribers worldwide. It commands a 54 percent share of the mobile market and a 40 percent share of the fiber internet market domestically.

Juniper has been a crucial part of Viettel’s core, edge, and metro access networks for over a decade. The selection of Juniper’s MX960 Universal Routing Platform and MX-SPC3 Services Cards represents Viettel’s strategic move to enhance its carrier-grade network address translation (CGNAT) capacity. This upgrade aims to manage the increasing traffic influx and address the additional processing power required for seamless network address translation.

Viettel’s goal is to efficiently meet the surging demand for mobile and broadband services in both urban and rural areas while optimizing the use of public IPv4 addresses. By elevating its CGNAT capabilities and implementing the coexistence of IPv4 and IPv6 in its network architecture, Viettel can expand its consumer mobile and fixed broadband services effectively. This upgrade will deliver unparalleled user experiences across various services, including gaming, streaming, and productivity applications.

The partnership between Viettel Group and Juniper Networks highlights the commitment of both organizations to delivering high-quality telecommunications services in Vietnam’s rapidly developing digital landscape. This collaboration will further solidify Viettel’s position as a telecommunications leader and support its future growth in the industry.
