Government Investment of over .1 Million to Bring High-Speed Internet to Essex County

The governments of Canada and Ontario have announced a joint investment of more than .1 million to provide reliable high-speed internet to 1,915 families, farms, and businesses in Essex County. This initiative is in partnership with Southwestern Integrated Fibre Technology (SWIFT) Inc.

Residents in the communities of Marentette Beach, Lighthouse Cove, and Stoney Point will now have access to broadband infrastructure that enables high-speed internet service. The aim of this investment is to connect these communities to a strong and reliable network, improving cellular connections and allowing residents and businesses to access essential services wherever they are.

This announcement signifies the completion of three additional projects under SWIFT. It is part of the Ontario government’s plan to ensure that the right infrastructure is in place to support the needs of communities, enabling people to live, work, and farm in the locations they prefer.

Through these projects, more than 1,900 homes and businesses in Essex County now have access to fiber-optic connectivity, which is a significant step forward in bridging the digital divide and unlocking economic opportunities within the region. This partnership between SWIFT, the governments of Ontario and Canada, is expected to have long-lasting positive impacts for years to come.

Overall, this investment will help improve internet access in Essex County, enhancing connectivity and enabling residents and businesses to thrive in a digital world.
