US enterprise connectivity integrator-reseller, Velaspan, has launched a managed private LTE/5G service aimed at large enterprise customers. The service, initially using Celona’s core and radio network solution, operates in the 3.55-3.7 GHz CBRS band and is targeted at sectors including construction, education, healthcare, manufacturing, mining, gas and oil, ports, and retail. It is being sold alongside Velaspan’s existing managed Wi-Fi offer.
Velaspan plans to expand its range of vendor partners to cater to different industries, stating that it will recommend equipment from leading private cellular hardware suppliers that best suits each customer environment. The company noted that marketing efforts around private 5G have become repetitive and confusing for most enterprises.
David Bond, co-founder at Velaspan, highlighted the benefits of private cellular networks: “We have clients with long-standing connectivity challenges that are difficult or impossible to solve with Wi-Fi, but that are readily solved with private cellular. Unfortunately, the industry has complicated the technology messaging to the point that many customers don’t know they can use private cellular to both solve practical use cases today and lay the foundation for more transformative use cases in the future.”
Velaspan, a 19-year-old enterprise network design and integration provider, claims that private cellular offers up to 20 times the coverage of Wi-Fi, along with increased reliability and security, resulting in cost savings on cabling, installation, and mounting hardware. The pricing of its managed service will depend on the size and complexity of the network.
Velaspan has become one of the first companies to join Celona’s Fanatics IT channel scheme for integrators, distributors, and resellers. The company’s Managed Private Cellular (MPC) service offers an all-inclusive and fully managed LTE/5G solution, including network design, integration with existing Wi-Fi-based enterprise networks, deployment, and ongoing monitoring and updates.
Celona’s product is the first to tightly integrate network and radio functions into a unified solution that can be directly integrated within any existing enterprise network by IT staff, according to Velaspan. The partnership aims to educate customers about the speed and cost-effectiveness of deploying private cellular networks for specific use cases.
