North Korea Plans Second Attempt to Launch Spy Satellite

Japan announced on Tuesday that North Korea is planning to launch a spy satellite into space by the end of this month. This comes after a failed launch attempt earlier this year.

The office of Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida released a statement confirming that they have been informed of the launch window. Japan, the United States, and South Korea are strongly urging North Korea to reconsider the launch. Tokyo’s ministry of defense is prepared to take necessary measures in case of any potential threat.

North Korea’s repeated missile launches and this upcoming satellite launch pose a threat to the peace and security of the region and the international community. The launch also violates relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions.

In response to the announcement, Japan is taking all possible measures to ensure the safety and security of its people. They are fully prepared for any contingencies that may arise.

This is not the first attempt by North Korea to launch a spy satellite. Their previous attempt on May 31 failed and the rocket ended up in the Yellow Sea. North Korea blamed the failure on an abnormal starting of the second-stage engine.

The international community, including South Korea, the United States, and Japan, strongly condemned the previous launch attempt. They believed that North Korea was using it as a cover to test ballistic missile technology. The salvage operation to retrieve the satellite confirmed that it had no military utility.

Prior to the failed launch, North Korea had notified Japan and the International Maritime Organization about their plans. It remains to be seen whether their second attempt will be successful. Japan and its allies will continue to monitor the situation closely.
