Iran has made significant progress in its space technology capabilities, becoming the first country in the Muslim world to possess the full cycle of space technology. In 2009, Iran successfully launched the Omid Satellite using the Safir satellite carrier, marking a major milestone in its space endeavors.

To further advance its capabilities, Iran developed a roadmap that includes the construction of satellite carriers such as Simorgh, Zoljanah, Sarir, and Soroush. The aim is to increase the payload capacity from the current 100 kg to a staggering 15 tons, which requires significant technological advancements.

One of the satellite carriers, Simorgh, has a diameter of 2.4 meters and a launch mass of 80 tons. The upcoming Soroush II satellite carrier is expected to have a launch mass of over 500 tons and marks the end of Iran’s space development roadmap.

Under the administration of President Ebrahim Raisi, who took office in August 2021, there has been a notable acceleration of activities in Iran’s space industry. The Supreme Space Council has convened twice, highlighting the government’s commitment to advancing the country’s space technology capabilities.

Furthermore, the recently launched space and astronomy news section by the Tasnim News Agency demonstrates Iran’s focus on promoting space-related information and developments in the media sphere. This initiative contributes to creating public awareness and understanding of Iran’s achievements in the field.
