EITS Network Maintenance on Oct. 1: What to Expect

EITS will be conducting network maintenance on October 1 from 6 a.m. until midnight. As a result, there are expected to be periodic and intermittent outages of campus internet access and campus information systems during this time.

During the maintenance, UGA’s Telephone Services will experience sporadic outages. In the event of an emergency, it is important to remember to use a cell phone to contact UGA Police by dialing 911 instead of the regular phone number. The UGA Police Department will continue to respond to all calls for service during this time. It is important to note that 911 is always the appropriate number to call for emergencies on campus.

Please be aware that elevator emergency phones may not work when telephone service is disrupted, and cell connectivity within elevators can be unreliable in some buildings. It is recommended to use stairs whenever possible during the maintenance period.

In some buildings, the building fire alarm panels may beep continuously until the phone connection is restored, and they may continue to do so if the system does not reset automatically. If you notice any indications of fire or smoke during the maintenance, please notify the UGA Police Department.
