The Search Continues for Victims of Lahaina Wildfire on Maui

The search for victims of the historic Lahaina wildfire is still ongoing on the island of Maui. Concerns are mounting among loved ones of the elderly and disabled residents in the town.

Maui county’s spokeswoman has been unable to confirm whether the senior living complex, which includes the Maui Adult Day Care Center and the Hale Mahaolu Eono Apartments, were destroyed. However, both satellite imagery and videos shared on social media indicate that the building complex was severely impacted by the fire.

Satellite imagery from Maxar shows the buildings before and after the fire, illustrating the extent of the devastation. On-the-ground videos shared on social media reveal that the buildings were completely leveled. A drone video posted on Facebook also captures the destruction of a senior living complex.

It remains uncertain whether residents were able to evacuate the buildings before the fire engulfed the city block. Satellite imagery indicates that only a few cars were present in the care center’s parking lot.

Footage captured on the day of the fire shows the block consumed by flames as individuals evacuate with others. Families are left fearing the worst for their loved ones.
