The Revolutionary Agnibaan SOrTeD Launch Vehicle by Agnikul Cosmos

Chennai-based Agnikul Cosmos has commenced the integration process of its groundbreaking launch vehicle, Agnibaan SOrTeD (Sub-Orbital Technological Demonstrator), with its private launchpad situated at the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota. This marks a pivotal milestone in Agnikul Cosmos’s pursuit of space innovation.

The Agnibaan SOrTeD launch vehicle stands out due to its revolutionary features and the innovative Agnilet engine. This engine is a marvel of innovation, being the world’s first entirely 3D-printed, single-piece, 6 kN semi-cryogenic engine. It differentiates itself from conventional rocket engines and is a testament to Agnikul Cosmos’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of space technology.

Unlike traditional sounding rockets, the Agnibaan SOrTeD will ascend vertically and precisely follow a predetermined trajectory. Throughout its flight, the launch vehicle will execute a meticulously choreographed sequence of maneuvers. This series of events is designed to validate key technologies pivotal to the success of Agnikul Cosmos’s upcoming orbital flights.

AgniKul Cosmos Private Limited, the Indian aerospace manufacturer behind the Agnibaan SOrTeD, is headquartered at the National Center for Combustion R&D of IIT Madras in Chennai. Established in 2017, AgniKul Cosmos is a pioneering space technology start-up with a resolute vision.

The company aims to create and launch its independent small-lift launch vehicle, exemplified by the Agnibaan model.
