North Korea Likely to Conduct Another Spy Satellite Launch, Says South Korean Lawmaker

North Korea is expected to conduct another spy satellite launch at the end of August or early September, according to a South Korean lawmaker. The country’s intelligence agency has reported that if North Korea is able to fix the defects that led to the failure of its previous satellite launch in May, it may attempt to put another satellite into orbit.

Yoo Sang-bum, a member of the South Korean parliament, stated that there is a possibility of a satellite launch to coincide with North Korea’s founding anniversary on September 9th if the technical issues have been resolved. North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has expressed a desire to conduct a launch during the second half of this year.

In addition to the satellite launch, North Korea is also preparing for other military actions, including potentially launching an intercontinental ballistic missile. It is believed that these actions are meant as a protest against the upcoming three-way summit between the United States, South Korea, and Japan, as well as joint military drills conducted by the U.S. and South Korea.

The summit between U.S. President Joe Biden, South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol, and Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida is scheduled to take place at Camp David on Friday.

It is important to note that this information comes from a South Korean lawmaker and has not been independently verified. The situation on the Korean peninsula remains tense, and any provocative actions by North Korea could further escalate tensions in the region.
