Around 14,000 homes and businesses in Sevenoaks, Kent, will soon have access to Netomnia’s high-speed Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband network. The £4.2m project, in collaboration with UK ISP YouFibre, aims to deploy a 10Gbps capable network in the area. To minimize disruption, Netomnia will use Openreach’s existing infrastructure, including ducting and overhead poles, with the help of civil engineering firm GNS Communications. Initial work is taking place in the St John’s and Greatness areas.

Netomnia is backed by an equity investment from DigitalBridge, along with commitments from existing shareholders, resulting in a total funding of £418m. Additionally, six banks have provided £230m in debt financing for the project. Netomnia is currently present in almost 40 towns and cities across England, Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland. Their goal is to reach 1 million premises by early 2024.

Once the service goes live, customers in Sevenoaks can sign up through YouFibre. The service offers unlimited usage, symmetrical speeds, a Wi-Fi router, free installation, and 24/7 UK-based support. Packages start at £21 per month for unlimited 150Mbps, with the option to upgrade to a 920Mbps plan for £29.99 per month (special offer of £1 for the first 3 months).

Zoltan Kovacs, Managing Director at Netomnia, expressed excitement about improving broadband access in Sevenoaks. The fibre infrastructure being built is not only reliable but also future-proofed, allowing people to fully utilize the internet’s resources and opportunities. The network will provide speeds that accommodate technological advances and the growing demand for bandwidth.

Competition in the gigabit-capable market in Sevenoaks is currently limited. Openreach has already deployed FTTP across most of the town, while Gigaclear has done a similar installation in the Wildernesse area. Therefore, Netomnia’s project opens up significant opportunities for high-speed broadband provision in the region.
