Mark Tuan Introduces Digital Avatar for Fan Engagement

Mark Tuan, rapper-singer-model and former member of the K-pop boy band Got7, has partnered with Soul Machines to create a digital avatar called “Digital Mark.” This autonomously automated “digital twin” utilizes OpenAI’s GPT integration, allowing fans to engage in one-on-one conversations with Tuan’s avatar. Tuan has become the first celebrity to attach their likeness to this artificial intelligence technology.

According to Tuan, this digital avatar is a unique and exciting way for fans to interact with him, even though it is not him in person. Greg Cross, CEO of Soul Machines, believes that Digital Mark represents the future of fan engagement. He sees the potential for autonomous animation to reshape how individuals across the globe interact with celebrities and brands.

To ensure that Digital Mark accurately represents the real Mark Tuan, an extensive process was involved. Tuan spent days filming in a motion capture bodysuit, demonstrating various facial expressions and providing voice recordings for the avatar. While Digital Mark currently remains stationary, Tuan envisions a future where the avatar can move and interact more dynamically.

Although the technology is in its early stages, Tuan is enthusiastic about the future of Digital Mark. Fans have already been playfully engaging with the avatar, jokingly asking about tour dates and new music. Tuan embraces the experimental nature of the technology and remains cautiously optimistic about its potential impact. He acknowledges that there are concerns about the future implications of such advancements but believes it is an exciting and cool concept.

Aside from his venture into digital avatars, Tuan has also been exploring new musical directions. His latest EP, “Fallin’,” marks a departure from R&B and hip-hop, venturing into the realm of sunny pop-punk. Tuan wanted to create music that would be fun and uplifting for his fans, incorporating live band performances and anthemic rock drums.

Tuan’s ultimate goal with “Fallin'” is to provide fans with daily music that they can enjoy and make them feel good about the day and themselves. And if they have any thoughts or questions, they can always turn to Digital Mark for a conversation.
