Chunghwa Telecom Reports Q2 2023 Operating Results

Chunghwa Telecom Co., Ltd. has announced its unaudited operating results for the second quarter of 2023. The company reported a 2.0% increase in total revenue to NT.46 billion. The Consumer Business Group saw a 3.9% increase in revenue to NT.76 billion, while the Enterprise Business Group’s revenue decreased by 1.2% to NT.54 billion. The International Business Group experienced the highest growth, with its revenue increasing by 23.2% to NT.17 billion.

Operating costs and expenses also increased by 2.0% to NT.20 billion, resulting in an operating income increase of 2.0% to NT.26 billion. EBITDA increased by 1.0% to NT.19 billion, and net income attributable to stockholders of the parent increased by 2.9% to NT.93 billion. Basic earnings per share were reported at NT.28.

Chunghwa Telecom’s mobile business revenue saw a 6.4% year-over-year growth, surpassing its competitors. The company also experienced growth in subscriber and average revenue per user (ARPU) metrics. Its Taiwan mobile market revenue share increased to 39.9%, and subscriber share reached 37.0%.

In addition, the company noted significant growth in the revenue from emerging enterprise applications. Revenue from 5G private networks increased fourfold, and big data analysis revenue grew by 67% year over year.

Chunghwa Telecom remains optimistic about the telecom industry, particularly with the steady penetration of 5G in Taiwan. The company aims to maintain its leadership position in the market and capitalize on the opportunities presented by digital transformation and AI trends.

Total operating costs and expenses amounted to NT.20 billion, a 2.0% increase compared to the previous year. Operating income reached NT.26 billion, and net income attributable to stockholders of the parent increased to NT.93 billion.

Cash flow from operating activities increased by 3.9% year over year, reaching NT.47 billion. Cash and cash equivalents decreased by 8.3% to NT.76 billion.

Overall, Chunghwa Telecom is pleased with its second-quarter results and remains committed to meeting the changing needs of its customers and the industry.
