Alternative Ways to Celebrate Take Your Dog to Work Day if You Work from Home

Did you know that Take Your Dog to Work Day is celebrated on the Friday after Father’s Day each year? It’s a great opportunity to celebrate our furry companions with our coworkers. However, for those of us who work from home, bringing our dogs to the office is not an option. But that doesn’t mean we can’t still have fun and celebrate with our pups!

One alternative is to designate another day as “Work from Home with Your Dog Day.” During the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic, many people were required to stay at home, giving them more time to spend with their dogs. If you have been working remotely, consider asking your employer if you can have another day to work from home with your fur baby. This is a great way to give them some extra attention and enjoy their company while you work.

Another option is to include your dog in your video conferences. Since we have all become more familiar with video conferencing while working from home, why not introduce your furry friend to your coworkers during a meeting? Whether it’s a Zoom or Google Hangouts call, let your dog make an appearance and bring a smile to everyone’s faces.

If you can’t bring your dog to work or include them in your virtual meetings, you can still show your love for dogs by supporting a local animal shelter. Instead of celebrating Take Your Dog to Work Day, consider collecting supplies and fundraising for your favorite shelter. You can also promote individual animals in need of adoption to your coworkers, encouraging them to sponsor or adopt. Setting up a virtual fundraiser is easy and can make a real difference in the lives of shelter dogs.

While working from home may prevent us from physically bringing our dogs to work, there are still plenty of ways to celebrate Take Your Dog to Work Day. Whether it’s spending an extra day at home with your furry companion, including them in your video conferences, or supporting a local shelter, you can make this day special for both you and your dog.
