Tolou-3 Satellite Unveiled by Iranian Space Agency

Iran Electronics Industries has unveiled the Tolou-3 satellite, an imaging satellite commissioned by the Iranian Space Agency (ISA). The ceremony took place in Tehran during the country’s National Day of Space and was attended by high-ranking Iranian officials.

Weighing 150 kilograms, Tolou-3 is considered the heaviest satellite ever manufactured in Iran. It has the capability to capture black and white images at a spatial resolution of five meters, as well as a 10-meter resolution in color mode.

The satellite relies heavily on equipment and tools produced by Iranian knowledge-based companies. It is expected to be placed into an orbit 500 kilometers above Earth.

The launch of Tolou-3 follows Iran’s previous successful satellite missions. In 2009, Iran launched its first satellite named Omid (Hope), followed by the Rasad (Observation) satellite in 2011. The country further achieved a milestone in 2012 by placing its third domestically-made satellite, Navid (Promise), into orbit.

Iran’s advancements in space technology continued with the successful launch of its first military satellite in April 2020. This was followed by another milestone in March 2022, when Iran successfully launched its second military satellite into space.

The Tolou-3 satellite represents another step forward for Iran’s space program, showcasing its growing capabilities in satellite manufacturing and imaging technology.
