SpaceX to Launch Two Starlink Missions in Quick Succession

SpaceX is preparing to launch two Starlink missions within a short timeframe of less than seven hours. The first launch is scheduled for Wednesday evening from Florida’s Cape Canaveral Space Force Station, followed by the second launch early Thursday morning from Vandenberg Space Force Base in California.

The Wednesday launch will see a Falcon 9 rocket deploying 22 Starlink satellites, while the Thursday launch will deploy 21 more Starlink craft. Viewers can watch both missions live on Space.com or via SpaceX’s official channels. Coverage for each launch will begin approximately 5 minutes before liftoff.

Notably, both launches will feature rocket landings. SpaceX plans to bring each Falcon 9 first stage down on a drone ship at sea shortly after liftoff. These missions will mark the 13th and 15th launches and landings for the Falcon 9s on Wednesday and Thursday, respectively. It’s worth mentioning that two separate Falcon 9 first stages hold the current record with 16 flights each.

Starlink is SpaceX’s broadband constellation, which continues to expand rapidly. As of now, the company has launched a total of 4,940 Starlink satellites, with 4,566 of them currently operational. This constellation aims to provide global broadband coverage, enabling users around the world to access high-speed internet, particularly in remote and underserved areas.

With these upcoming launches, SpaceX is taking another step towards its goal of establishing a global satellite network and revolutionizing the way we connect with the internet.
