Singtel Begins Construction of Singapore’s Highest Power Density Data Centre in Tuas

Singtel has started constructing DC Tuas, Singapore’s highest power density and hyper-connected green data centre. The groundbreaking ceremony took place with Guest-of-Honour Infocomm Media Development Authority’s Chief Executive, Mr Lew Chuen Hong.

DC Tuas, expected to be operational in 2025, will provide 58MW of IT load capacity to meet the rising demand for sustainable digital infrastructure. Spanning 120,000 square feet and eight storeys, it will be the only data centre in Singapore integrated with a cable landing station. This unique feature will offer customers unparalleled international and domestic connectivity, as well as improved network performance with lower latency and increased reliability.

As Singtel’s largest data centre in Singapore, DC Tuas will play a crucial role in the company’s decarbonisation goals due to its low power utilisation effectiveness (PUE). The facility will incorporate next-generation cooling capabilities, enabling it to support customers’ rack density of up to 80kW per rack with more efficient liquid cooling. This will lower its PUE to below 1.3.

According to Bill Chang, the CEO of Singtel’s Digital InfraCo, DC Tuas is built on Singtel’s fourth-generation design and is hyper-connected with several international submarine cables directly linked to it. This development will strengthen Singapore’s digital infrastructure, positioning the country as a significant business and connectivity hub. It is also a pivotal milestone for Singtel’s new standalone digital infrastructure business, capturing the increasing demand for cloud services and the rapid adoption of AI in the region.

Currently, Singtel provides 60MW of data centre capacity in Singapore. With the addition of DC Tuas, the total capacity will grow to 118MW by 2025. Even before its construction, DC Tuas has already generated interest from hyperscalers, multinational and regional corporations, as well as local enterprises.

In addition to its Singapore data centres, Singtel has formed partnerships in Indonesia and Thailand to build data centres in Batam and Bangkok, respectively. These collaborations involve Telkom, Medco Power, GULF, and AIS.
