Pakistan’s Ministry of IT and Telecommunication Plans to Train 15,000 People in New Technologies

Technology has experienced significant growth worldwide, and Pakistan aims to keep up with this advancement by nurturing a technologically advanced workforce. To achieve this, the Ministry of IT and Telecommunication in Pakistan has introduced a program called “Capacity Building of IT Industry in Specialization Technologies & Platforms,” which aims to train 15,000 individuals in new and specialized technologies.

The training program will focus on various areas such as BlockChain, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Cyber Security, and more. The Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB) will work in consultation with industry and academia to identify the most needed and sought-after technologies for training. A steering committee, composed of representatives from the Ministry of IT and Telecom, PSEB, Pakistan Software Houses Association (PASHA), and other stakeholders, will be responsible for selecting training partners, trainers, courses, and durations.

To gauge the current demand for skilled workers and specific technologies, a survey will be conducted across the IT industry. This information will be used to develop proposals, and training providers with effective online learning systems will be chosen for the program.

The initiative also aims to produce 300 master trainers in specialized technologies such as blockchain, cloud computing, and artificial intelligence. These trainers will assist the industry in designing human resource development programs, curricula, and imparting training.

The Ministry of IT and Telecommunication estimates that training 15,000 individuals will require a budget of Rs. 2,000 million. Initially, the government has allocated Rs. 1,000 million for the first phase, which includes providing a stipend of Rs. 25,000 per month to those who complete the training and offering them internships.

This endeavor reflects Pakistan’s commitment to develop a skilled workforce and embrace technological advancement for the betterment of the country’s IT industry.
