North Korea May Conduct Another Satellite Launch, Says South Korean Lawmaker

According to a South Korean lawmaker, North Korea could potentially conduct another spy satellite launch at the end of August or early September. The country’s intelligence agency has reportedly provided this information. Despite the failure of their first military satellite launch in May, North Korea has expressed its determination to successfully put another satellite into orbit.

Yoo Sang-bum, a member of the South Korean parliament, stated that if North Korea manages to fix the defects from their previous launch, there is a chance that they will conduct the satellite launch on September 9th, coinciding with the country’s founding anniversary. North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has made it a priority to carry out a launch during the second half of this year.

In addition to the potential satellite launch, North Korea is also said to be preparing for other military actions. This includes the possibility of launching an intercontinental ballistic missile to protest against the upcoming three-way summit between the United States, South Korea, and Japan, as well as joint U.S.-South Korea drills.

The summit between U.S. President Joe Biden, South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol, and Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida is a cause for concern for North Korea. It sees it as a threat to its interests and may seek to demonstrate its capabilities through military actions.

These developments emphasize the ongoing tensions on the Korean peninsula and the importance of monitoring North Korea’s actions closely.
