The Iranian Space Organization Announces Production of “Pars-3” Satellite

The Iranian Space Organization (ISA) has announced the commencement of the production process for their latest satellite, “Pars-3.” The head of the organization, Hassan Salarieh, shared this information, emphasizing that the ISA has made significant progress in designing and producing indigenous remote sensing satellites with high accuracy.

Salarieh specifically mentioned two satellites, “Pars-2” and “Pars-3,” whose production has officially begun. These satellites are equipped with imaging precision capabilities of four and two meters, respectively.

Iran ranks among the top 10 countries in the world for their ability to manufacture and launch satellites. The country achieved its first satellite launch in 2009 with the Omid (Hope) satellite, followed by the Rasad (Observation) satellite in 2011. In 2012, Iran successfully deployed its third domestically-made satellite, the Navid (Good News).

The country announced the successful launch of its first military satellite into orbit in April 2020, further demonstrating its advancements in space technology. In March 2022, Iran successfully launched its second military satellite. Additionally, Iran launched the high-resolution imaging satellite called Khayyam in August of last year from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan, utilizing a Soyuz 2.1 B rocket.

In February, Iran unveiled two of its own telecommunications and imaging satellites, Nahid-2 (Venus-2) and Tolou-3 (Sunrise-3), as further achievements in the field of space technology.

The production of “Pars-3” indicates another stride forward for Iran’s space program. With ongoing developments and advancements, Iran continues to solidify its position as a significant player in the global space industry.
