Rocket Lab USA, Inc. has signed an agreement with the Institute for Q-shu Pioneers of Space, Inc. (iQPS), a Japanese Earth imaging company, to launch an Earth observation satellite. The satellite, named “TSUKUYOMI-I,” will be launched on Rocket Lab’s Electron rocket.

Originally, iQPS was scheduled to be launched on another vehicle, but they have now selected Rocket Lab for a dedicated Electron mission to expedite the deployment. The launch is scheduled for September 2023 from Rocket Lab Launch Complex 1 in Mahia, New Zealand.

The mission has been named “The Moon God Awakens” to recognize the significance of the project. Rocket Lab is a global leader in launch services and space systems. This agreement highlights Rocket Lab’s reputation in the industry.

Rocket Lab has established itself as a prominent player in the small satellite launch market. The Electron rocket is designed specifically for the rapid and cost-effective deployment of small payloads into orbit. The QPS-SAR-5 satellite will provide Earth observation capabilities for iQPS. This is an important tool for various applications, including environmental monitoring, disaster response, and resource management. By partnering with Rocket Lab, iQPS can ensure timely and efficient deployment of their satellite.

Rocket Lab continues to expand its launch services and space systems capabilities. The company aims to provide flexible and reliable access to space for customers around the world. With this latest agreement, Rocket Lab strengthens its position as a leading provider of launch services for small satellites.
