Rare Ferrari 275 GTB Crashed in Italy

A rare Ferrari 275 GTB worth .3 million was involved in an accident while leaving a shopping centre in San Rocco al Porto, Italy. The driver, a 60-year-old individual, fortunately did not sustain any injuries, but the classic car suffered damage.

The exact cause of the incident has not been disclosed, but reports suggest that the car lost control on the damp road and collided with a wooden fence. The extent of the damage appears to be limited to the passenger side fender and front grille opening. However, since these panels were meticulously hand-beaten, the repairs are expected to be costly. It remains uncertain if this particular model is one of the rare 80 alloy-bodied versions.

The Ferrari 275 GTB was produced by Ferrari in limited quantities between 1964 and 1966, with less than 500 examples being made. Each car was fitted with a 3.3-litre ‘Colombo’ V12 engine. An updated variant, known as the GTB/4, was later introduced from 1966 to 1968, featuring an upgraded quad-cam engine.

While there is limited information available about the crashed model, enthusiasts are hopeful that the car will be fully restored to its original condition. This accident serves as a reminder for the owner to exercise caution and consider weather conditions before taking this prized possession for a drive.
