New Solutions from AT&T Enhance School Safety and Connectivity in New Mexico

AT&T has announced that it will be providing connectivity solutions to school districts in New Mexico through an exclusive contract with Cooperative Educational Services (CES). This collaboration aims to address issues related to school safety, cybersecurity, and long bus commutes while bridging the digital divide in rural and tribal communities.

The partnership between CES and AT&T will offer three unique solutions to New Mexico schools. The first solution, powered by FirstNet, Intrado, and AT&T ESInet™, is a school safety solution that seamlessly connects school staff, information systems, 9-1-1 call takers, and first responders. This solution also includes a mission-critical FirstNet Push-to-Talk feature to enhance situational awareness and emergency operations.

The second solution is a connected school bus option, which provides Wi-Fi connectivity for students commuting to and from school. This allows students to stay connected on the road, while eligible school bus drivers can use FirstNet during a crisis to ensure student safety.

The third solution focuses on cybersecurity and aims to prevent breaches such as ransomware attacks. AT&T will provide customized solutions and trust and verify tests for schools to enhance their cybersecurity measures.

The collaboration between CES and AT&T will not only enhance connectivity for New Mexico students but also help create a safer learning environment. School districts will have access to these solutions at a lower negotiated rate, allowing them to customize their connectivity options according to their specific needs.

This initiative is particularly important after the challenges faced during the pandemic, which highlighted the discrepancies in connectivity for students. CES recognized the need for a broader transformation in educational technology to meet the evolving needs of students and teachers.

AT&T’s specialized offers, in collaboration with CES, will help close the digital divide and improve the overall learning experience for students across New Mexico. By providing comprehensive connectivity solutions, AT&T aims to create a better schooling environment that prioritizes safety and supports the educational needs of students, teachers, and administrators.
