Iran Making Strides in Space Program Despite Sanctions

Iran has made significant progress in its civilian space program, positioning itself among the top 10 countries capable of satellite development and launch. The country’s Defense Minister, Ashtiani, highlighted the collaborative efforts of various organizations in the development of satellites and satellite carriers, including the Simorgh (Phoenix). Under their plan, Iran aims to successfully launch 2 to 3 satellites this year.

In addition to satellite development, Iran unveiled an advanced indigenous drone called Mohajer-10. The drone has an operational range of 2,000 km (1,240 miles) and can remain airborne for up to 24 hours. Ashtiani praised this achievement, hinting at even more impressive capabilities to be revealed in the future.

Despite enduring sanctions imposed by Western countries, Iran remains committed to its space program. Ashtiani mentioned that the world is curious about how Iran can achieve such advancements, emphasizing that there are even more capabilities beyond the Mohajer-10 drone that will be unveiled gradually.

Beyond the space program, the Defense Ministry also expressed its readiness to enter the automotive industry if requested. Iran’s automotive sector is the nation’s largest industry outside of oil and gas, but it has faced challenges in recent years due to sanctions. The industry has suffered significant losses, resulting in scarcity of vehicles and elevated prices.

Iran’s determination to continue progressing in its space program and expand into other industries demonstrates the country’s resilience in the face of sanctions. As global interest grows, more of Iran’s technological advancements will come to light in the future.
