Intelsat to Receive .7 Billion Following C-Band Frequency Clearing

Intelsat, a leading provider of inflight connectivity, is set to receive a substantial sum of nearly .7 billion in the fourth quarter. This follows the successful completion of the C-band frequency clearing, creating new opportunities for the company and its shareholders.

The C-band transition ordered by the FCC aimed to clear the spectrum by December 2025, but incentive payments were offered to satellite operators who cleared it before December 2023. With the completion of the validation certification, Intelsat will now receive accelerated relocation payments totaling .67 billion.

Dave Wajsgras, CEO at Intelsat, expressed pleasure in achieving this milestone ahead of schedule. He commended the hard work of the Intelsat team that led to this remarkable achievement and highlighted the positive impact of the C-band transition on the company’s financial position.

Wajsgras further revealed that half of the proceeds from the payments will be used to reduce the company’s debt and improve its balance sheet, in line with debt covenants. The remaining sum will be utilized to explore various value-creating options for Intelsat and its stakeholders.

He emphasized that with the successful completion of the C-band transition, Intelsat is well-positioned to remain a leader in the satellite communications industry as it continues to transform for the future.

The significant financial boost from the accelerated relocation payments will enable Intelsat to strengthen its position and drive growth in the evolving market for inflight connectivity and other satellite services.
