Instagram, owned by Meta, is currently testing a new collaborative feature that will enable your friends to add photos to your posts. This development was announced by Instagram head, Adam Mosseri, through a broadcast channel.

The new feature allows users to invite friends to contribute photos and videos to their feed posts. Prior to posting a carousel, users can enable the option for followers to submit their own visual content, with the ability for the user to approve and add them to the post.

When posting photos on your Instagram profile, you will now have the choice to allow your followers to submit their own visual content for consideration. However, the submitted photos and videos will not be automatically added to your post; rather, you will have the opportunity to review and approve each submission. A screenshot of the feature shared by Mosseri shows an “add to post” button in the bottom-left corner.

In addition to this collaborative feature, Instagram is also experimenting with another new feature, which allows users to update their profile picture with a short or looping video. Mosseri mentioned that soon users will have the option to update their default profile photo in notes, accompanied by a short, looping video. Users will still be able to include text to accompany the video. To gather user feedback, Instagram encourages users to share their thoughts on this feature as they begin to see videos in notes.

The demonstration video reveals that a new camera icon will appear on the profile picture section when creating a note. Users can then record a video to be posted on Notes using this camera icon.

Overall, with these new features, Instagram aims to enhance the collaborative nature of its platform by allowing friends to contribute to posts and provide more creative ways for users to express themselves through profile pictures.
