Global HITSS Enhances Energy Efficiency with Automation and SAP Solutions

The Mexican IT services specialist, Global HITSS, is dedicated to developing a digital society by integrating IT technologies with other digital amenities and general communications. In line with its mission to promote energy conservation, Global HITSS aimed to accurately measure consumption. However, they faced various technical and practical obstacles.

Over the past decade, there was no technological product available that could automatically measure different energy inputs (electricity, water, and gas) in real-time and with a high storage capacity. All billing information had to be captured manually, resulting in potential human errors and time-consuming processing. These obstacles hindered the analysis of consumption patterns and identifying areas for improvement.

To overcome these challenges, Global HITSS embarked on an automation journey to develop an energy efficiency solution. Their goal was to identify ineffective spots, discover new opportunities, and control, measure, and analyze energy consumption to reduce their carbon footprint.

As a subsidiary of América Móvil, a leading conglomerate in Mexico City, Global HITSS is responsible for overseeing technology and financial infrastructure. As one of Latin America’s premier consulting services, they needed to discard manual systems and integrate diverse data streams into a single software platform that could accurately record emissions, energy usage, and cost reduction strategies.

Global HITSS enlisted the help of SAP, a multinational ERP software leader, to bring this project to life. SAP’s Business Technology Platform (BTP) was utilized to ingest, process, and analyze large amounts of data, including monthly energy invoices and sensor information. The integration of internal systems ensured reliability and security.

With real-time analytics provided by the energy efficiency solution, Global HITSS improved billing processes, predictive maintenance, and empowered workers at all levels of the organization with valuable insights. Since the platform’s deployment in May 2022, the company has achieved significant savings, including 14% in energy consumption, 9% in water, and 5% in natural gas.

The platform has not only enabled precise decision-making for employees but also reduced the time required for invoice processing and report generation by more than tenfold. Automating data collection and clerical tasks has freed up time for problem-solving and high-priority activities.

Empowered by the transformative platform, Global HITSS is now able to focus on reducing its carbon footprint, improving quality of life and safety, conceptualizing new technologies, and fostering innovation. Their efforts were recognized as they were named a finalist at the 2023 SAP Innovation Awards.

Global HITSS’ commitment to automation and SAP solutions has not only improved energy efficiency but also set the standard for driving positive change in business and society.
