A New Z-Wave Hardware Supply Firm, Trident IoT, Forms in California

A new Z-Wave hardware supply firm called Trident IoT has been established in Carlsbad, California. The company aims to provide Z-Wave based IoT chips and modules, as well as product design, development consulting, and device certification services. Trident IoT has identified the need to address supply chain challenges in the Z-Wave segment of the IoT ecosystem.

The founders of the company include Mariusz Malkowski, who assumes the role of Chief Tech Officer, Michael Lamb, serving as President, and Bill Scheffler as Vice President of Sales. Together, they have assembled a team of talented Z-Wave engineers. Trident IoT has joined several industry alliances including the Z-Wave Alliance, Connectivity Standards Alliance (CSA), Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG), and LoRa Alliance.

Mariusz Malkowski brings significant experience from his previous work at Sigma Designs, eZLE Smart Home, and Building 36 Technologies. Michael Lamb has a history with Street Smart Security and has supplied products to companies such as Honeywell, Comcast, and RING. Bill Scheffler has a background in sales at Zensys, the original author of the Z-Wave protocol, which was later acquired by Sigma Designs.

Trident IoT will offer Z-Wave Plus, Z-Wave Plus v.2, and Z-Wave Long Range chips for smart homes, hospitality venues, and multi-dwelling units. In addition, the company will provide proprietary silicon and modules, as well as product design and development services for various IoT radio technologies. Device certification will be available for US-based Z-Wave devices.

The company aims to collaborate with device manufacturers to create secure, reliable, interoperable, and innovative IoT products. The industry has welcomed Trident IoT, recognizing the potential it brings for growth and innovation in the Z-Wave ecosystem. Trident IoT’s personalized attention and engineering expertise are seen as valuable assets to accelerate the development of connected devices.

Trident IoT has received support from industry leaders such as Colin Cureton from Silicon Labs, Chris LaPre from CSA, and Mitch Klein from the Z-Wave Alliance. They believe that Trident IoT’s specialization in RF semiconductors will greatly benefit the industry.
