Town Center Planned for Weeping Willows Subdivision in North Augusta/Clearwater Area

The developer of the Weeping Willows subdivision in the North Augusta/Clearwater area has revealed plans for a -million Town Center for the new community. Tracey Turner, the CEO and owner of Turner Development LLC, presented the proposal to the Aiken County Planning Commission. Turner’s company has a contract to purchase a 10.83-acre parcel adjacent to the Weeping Willows property from Heights Baptist Church, where the Town Center will be located.

The Town Center is envisioned as a “homey” and “welcoming” space, with a small town main street appeal. It will feature wide sidewalks, apartments, and retail and restaurant space. The zoning designation for the Heights Baptist Church land is Urban Development, but Turner is requesting a change to Planned Use District Type A, which is the current zoning for the Weeping Willows property. This would add a commercial center to the residential planned unit development.

The Aiken County Planning Commission unanimously approved Turner’s zoning-related request, with contingencies. This decision paves the way for the construction of the Town Center. A groundbreaking ceremony was recently held for the first phase of the Weeping Willows subdivision, which will expand to include the Heights Baptist Church property along Jefferson Davis Highway.

This new Town Center will provide residents of the Weeping Willows subdivision and the surrounding area with convenient amenities and a vibrant community space. Turner’s vision for a small town feel combined with modern conveniences aims to create a unique and desirable living environment. With the approval and support of the Planning Commission, these plans are set to become a reality, enhancing the overall development of the area.
