Mohawk Networks is currently seeking a qualified individual with experience in the telecommunications industry for the position of Telecommunications Technician. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to advance their career in the field.

The Telecommunications Technician will be responsible for the service and installation of structured cabling, surveillance cameras, and access control systems. This role requires experience with fiber optic installations and termination. The technician will also provide support for electronic security system installations in both new and existing construction deployments.

Candidates for this position must have the ability to terminate Cat6, RG6, and fiber cables. Working from ladders or scaffolding will be necessary. Experience with patch panels, pathway installation, head-end, rack building/setup, and networking background is considered a plus. Familiarity with hand tools, including drills, cutting tools, and power saws, is also essential.

The ability to drill out for security contacts and properly place wires is highly desired. Occasional travel may be required for this role, up to 50% within the United States.

Qualifications for the Telecommunications Technician position include experience with Cat5 and Cat6 cabling, previous experience installing cables and working with switches, servers, panels, and workstations. Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project, as well as collaboration software like SharePoint, is required. Candidates should also possess strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Excellent customer service and communication skills, both oral and written, are essential.

A valid New York State driver’s license and a clean driving record are necessary. The applicant’s driving and criminal records will be checked as required by state laws and Mohawk Networks’ insurance carrier(s).

A minimum of a high school diploma/GED and three years of relevant work experience are required. Familiarity with building codes and current knowledge of appropriate systems, devices, equipment, and standards is also expected. BISCI certification and OSHA certification are considered advantageous.
