Marine Corps Veteran Receives Smart Home for Increased Independence

A Marine Corps veteran, Lance Corporal Noah White, has been gifted a brand-new smart home in Bangor, Maine, allowing him to live a more independent life. The home, provided by the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, is specifically designed to accommodate the challenges White faces due to his injuries sustained during a training mission.

As a result of the injuries, White has no movement from the neck down, making everyday tasks extremely difficult in his previous home. However, with the mortgage-free smart home, he will be able to control various aspects of the house through the use of a mobile app. This includes tasks such as opening doors and turning off lights.

The Tunnel to Towers Foundation, founded in memory of a firefighter who bravely responded to the events of September 11th, 2001, constructed the smart home to support veterans like White. The organization aims to honor and celebrate the sacrifices made by these heroes by providing them with improved living conditions.

White expressed his gratitude towards the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, acknowledging their tremendous efforts and stating that he is incredibly thankful for the new house. He noted that it will significantly improve his quality of life compared to his current home, where moving around and even taking showers is a struggle.

In a beautiful coincidence, White’s first day in his new home coincided with his birthday, making the occasion even more special. The gift of the smart home will undoubtedly enhance his independence and make a positive impact on his daily life.
