Hughes Awarded Space Force IDIQ Contract for Low Earth Orbit (LEO) Satellite Services

Hughes Network Systems, LLC (HUGHES), an EchoStar company, has been awarded a five-year, Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract by the U.S. Space Force for proliferated Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite-based services. The contract, valued at up to 0 million, allows the U.S. Department of Defense, federal agencies, and international coalition partners to procure fully managed, low-latency LEO services from Hughes. This includes leveraging capacity on two constellations: OneWeb and EchoStar Lyra.

Hughes is proud to offer two compelling solutions to government and defense agencies. The first is their OneWeb offering, which features a low-power, light-weight, flat panel antenna. The second is the next-generation EchoStar Lyra S-band IoT system. These solutions provide robust and resilient low-latency connectivity at a competitive price.

Under the IDIQ contract, Hughes will provide managed, wideband LEO services to the U.S. Space Force and other government agencies. These services are also available under the General Services Administration (GSA) Schedule. In addition to wideband services, narrowband services over the EchoStar Lyra constellation are also available. The EchoStar Lyra system is being developed by EchoStar, the parent company of Hughes, for Internet of Things (IoT) connectivity and ongoing market development, including 5G non-terrestrial networks (NTN).

The IDIQ contract will offer cost-effective solutions and added reliability and resiliency in satellite communications for the U.S. Department of Defense. Rick Lober, vice president and general manager of the Defense and Government Systems Division at Hughes, stated that they look forward to addressing the upcoming requirements for procurement of these services.
