.9 Million to Boost High-Speed Internet Access in North Carolina’s Bladen County

A groundbreaking announcement from Senator Thom Tillis has brought exciting news for Bladen County’s digital landscape. The U.S. Department of Agriculture has paved the way for .9 million to flow into North Carolina’s heartland, promising a cutting-edge fiber-to-the-premises network that will bring high-speed internet access to the community.

This network will empower 2,674 locals, 84 local enterprises, 117 farms, and four educational institutions across Bladen, Columbus, and Sampson Counties. It builds upon the .53 billion previously secured in June under the Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment (BEAD) program.

The additional funding will further strengthen North Carolina’s mission to break down barriers to high-speed internet. Strategic planning, robust infrastructure deployment, and innovative adoption initiatives will be utilized to ensure that communities have access to this vital resource.

Senator Tillis, a strong advocate for the people of Bladen County, expressed his pride in this achievement. He stated, “I’m proud to have worked on the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law that will deliver more than .9 million to expand access to high-speed internet in Bladen, Columbus, and Sampson Counties.” He emphasized the importance of bridging the digital divide for rural communities and providing them with the resources they need.

This investment in high-speed internet access paves the way for connectivity, opportunity, and prosperity for the residents of Bladen County.
