Wildfire in Lahaina Destroys 80% of City and Claims Nearly 100 Lives

The wildfire in Lahaina on the island of Maui has caused widespread destruction, with 80% of the city being destroyed and nearly 100 lives lost. Christina Hall, the HGTV star, recently revealed that her parents were in Lahaina when the wildfires started. Fortunately, they were able to evacuate to Kihei, a town south of Lahaina.

Hall shared her parents’ Facebook post on her Instagram Story, explaining that although her parents were safe, they had no access to electricity, internet, television, or reliable cell service while they were in Lahaina. They only became aware of the seriousness of the fire once they were able to connect to the internet.

It is not clear whether Hall’s parents live in Hawaii or were on vacation there. However, Hall has a special connection to Maui and Lahaina, as it is her favorite place on Earth. She has been visiting Lahaina every year since she was a child and is devastated by the extent of the damage caused by the wildfires.

As of Sunday, August 13, 85% of the wildfire had been contained. However, it is still considered one of the deadliest wildfires in the past century. The fire has burned over 2,000 acres of land and caused approximately billion in losses.

Hall, like many others, is sending her thoughts and prayers to those affected by the devastating fires. The impact of the wildfire on Lahaina and Maui as a whole is immense, and the community will need support to recover and rebuild.
