Tata Communications Launches Global 5G Roaming Laboratory

Tata Communications has announced the launch of its global, cloud-based 5G Roaming Laboratory (Lab), which allows Mobile Network Operators (MNOs) to conduct trials of 5G standalone network use cases before offering the service to their subscribers. The goal is to help MNOs harness the potential of 5G and improve the mobility experience for their consumers and enterprise customers.

The lab focuses on testing the international mobile roaming experience by monitoring traffic movement and network usage to provide a high-quality experience for mobile phone users while roaming. It assesses performance objectively across networks, particularly during the exchange process while a user is roaming. Additionally, the lab conducts onboarding and internet trials on the high-speed, reliable, and low-latency 5G standalone network.

Safety is a priority for the new Tata Communications 5G Roaming Lab. Equipped with advanced server applications, it ensures high-speed and seamless 5G roaming connectivity while prioritizing network security. As per The Mobile Economy 2023 report published by gsma.com, this is particularly significant due to the accelerating global adoption of 5G. GSMA predicts that there will be 5 billion 5G connections by 2030.

Mysore Madhusudhan, Executive Vice President of Collaboration and Connected Solutions at Tata Communications, highlighted the importance of connectivity in today’s fast-paced digital world. He emphasized the need for fast, secure, and reliable internet for both individuals and enterprises. The introduction of the 5G Roaming Lab ensures that MNO customers receive proven services.

The flexibility offered by conducting tests across different geographies allows MNOs to deliver superior and agile services. By providing fast and uninterrupted connectivity, this generation of technology will accelerate at a faster pace than its predecessors.
