Progress of India’s Lunar Mission Chandrayaan 3 and Successful Launch of GSAT-24

Chairman of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), S Somanath, expressed confidence in the progress of the forthcoming lunar mission, Chandrayaan 3, providing reassurance that all systems are operating as planned. This mission aims to build upon the success of its predecessors, Chandrayaan 1 and Chandrayaan 2. Chairman S Somanath stated that there will be a series of manoeuvres until Chandrayaan 3 lands on the Moon on August 23, and the satellite is healthy.

In addition, Somanath shared details of the successful launch of GSAT-24, a communication satellite, which further strengthens India’s position as a key player in satellite communication and technology. The launch of GSAT-24 highlights ISRO’s multi-faceted approach to space technology.

As the Chandrayaan 3 mission progresses and GSAT-24 takes its place among India’s communication satellites, the nation’s scientific and technological prowess continue to reach new heights. The High Commissioner of Singapore to India, Simon Wong, extended his congratulations to India and ISRO for the Chandrayaan 3 insertion phase. He also praised the mission’s photographs of the Moon.

ISRO released the first pictures of the Moon taken by Chandrayaan 3, showcasing the lunar surface captured during Lunar Orbit Insertion (LOI) on August 5, 2023. According to ISRO, the Chandrayaan 3 spacecraft successfully entered the lunar orbit on Saturday after traveling approximately two-thirds of the way to the Moon since its launch on July 14.

The updates provided by Chairman S Somanath demonstrate ISRO’s unwavering commitment to advancing space exploration and technology. With each mission, India continues to cement its position as a prominent player in the field of space research and exploration.
