Konami Highlights Upcoming Games at Press Event

Konami, once a dominant third-party video game publisher known for franchises like Castlevania and Metal Gear Solid, has faced a major restructure in recent years. However, the company has continued to remain busy in the gaming industry. At a recent press event, Konami showcased four of its upcoming games, giving attendees a hands-on experience.

One of the highly anticipated releases is Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1, which brings the stealth series to modern consoles, including the Nintendo Switch. The collection not only includes HD remasters of classics like Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, but also offers extras such as full scripts, digital books, and never-before-seen animatics, providing a behind-the-scenes look at the creative process behind the series. The Nintendo Switch version of the collection separates each game into its own launcher on the home screen, while other platforms like PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC offer a more streamlined experience.

Super Bomberman R 2, the next installment in the long-running Bomberman franchise, introduces new modes including a 64-player battle royale option and a unique battle called Castle. In this mode, one team defends treasure chests while the other team tries to steal them. The game maintains the classic Bomberman rules while adding team-based objectives, and features over 29 characters, including cameo appearances from other Konami games.

Super Crazy Rhythm Castle is a charmingly goofy music game from developer Second Impact Games. It combines third-person exploration with musical interludes, offering a unique adventure. Players can embark on four-player co-op challenges that require them to complete various musical tasks while dealing with unexpected obstacles. The game is reminiscent of classic couch co-op games like Overcooked.

Lastly, CYGNI: All Guns Blazing was also showcased at the event. This game is a promising addition to the shoot ’em up genre, although no specific release date was announced.

Attendees of the press event got a glimpse of Konami’s evolving efforts in the video game industry. With a mix of classic franchises and innovative new games, Konami aims to appeal to a wide range of gamers across different platforms.
