Indiana State Police K-9 Receives Donation for Protective Vest

Indiana State Police K-9, Koda, will soon have an additional layer of protection while on duty, thanks to a generous donation. Vested Interest in K9s, Inc., a nonprofit organization, has donated a bullet- and stab-resistant vest for Koda’s safety.

The custom-fitted vest is made in the United States and will be embroidered with the words, “In memory of K9 Falco, Gary, IN- EOW 7/13/23.” Such vests are designed to potentially save the lives of K-9 officers during dangerous situations.

Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. has a mission to provide similar protective vests to K-9s across the country. With the help of tax-deductible contributions, the organization has managed to donate over 5,240 vests so far, amounting to a value of .9 million.

To be eligible for a vest donation, K-9 officers must be at least 20 months old, actively employed, and certified with law enforcement or related agencies. K-9s with expired vests are also eligible for a replacement through this program.

Law enforcement K9s play a crucial role in maintaining public safety in the United States. With an estimated 30,000 K9s serving throughout the country, it is vital to ensure their protection and well-being.
