Bitrefill’s eSims Available in 140 Countries for Bitcoin and Crypto Travelers

Bitrefill, in partnership with eSIM Go, now offers eSIMs in 140 countries worldwide. This collaboration allows crypto users to purchase eSIMs using Bitcoin (BTC), the Bitcoin Lightning Network, Ether (ETH), and stablecoins like Tether (USDT). The introduction of eSIMs makes it easier for cryptocurrency enthusiasts to utilize their digital assets while traveling.

Bitrefill’s founder and CEO, Sergej Kotliar, highlighted the importance of this development for travelers. Many crypto users who travel extensively as digital nomads or for conferences will benefit from this service. Purchasing eSIMs with cryptocurrency is a straightforward process, as Kotliar explained, “You can just get an e-SIM from the airplane Wi-Fi, install it in a minute, and be online from the moment your plane touches down on the tarmac, without worrying about getting a massive surprise bill from your telco.”

Established in 2014, Bitrefill offers a platform for crypto users to make purchases with Bitcoin, primarily through gift cards. This latest integration specifically targets travelers who want to avoid traditional fiat payment methods during their journeys.

Living solely on Bitcoin can be challenging, even in Bitcoin-friendly destinations like El Salvador. Cointelegraph reporter Joe Hall encountered difficulties when attempting to purchase phone credit using Bitcoin during his exploration of Bitcoin adoption in the country. However, with Bitrefill’s integration, Bitcoin advocates traveling to El Salvador can now easily purchase data using Bitcoin as soon as they connect to WiFi at San Salvador airport.

Other options are also available for travelers interested in using cryptocurrency for mobile data services. Silent.Link offers an anonymous eSim for Bitcoin or Monero (XMR) payments, while telecommunications provider MoreMins accepts crypto payments for their data services.
