Avanci Launches 5G Connected Vehicle Programme

Avanci has announced the launch of its 5G Connected Vehicle programme, aimed at simplifying the licensing of cellular technologies used in next generation connected vehicles. The programme covers essential technologies for 5G, 4G, 3G, and 2G connectivity, including cellular vehicle-to-everything (C-V2X) which enables direct communication between vehicles, cyclists, pedestrians, and transportation infrastructure.

According to Kasim Alfalahi, founder and CEO of Avanci, the company’s goal is to transform how technology is shared and ensure recognition and rewards for inventors globally. The programme allows companies to access technology more easily, leading to the development of new, innovative products that enhance people’s lives worldwide.

Laurie Fitzgerald, Senior Vice President at Avanci, highlights the significance of the 5G Connected Vehicle programme for automakers. It offers a single agreement that covers patented cellular technologies from numerous organizations worldwide, making it easier to support the roll-out of 5G in connected vehicles. Fitzgerald expresses gratitude towards the partners who contributed to the creation of the program and is proud to see it become a reality.

Avanci’s existing 4G Vehicle license already covers over 130 million connected vehicles from more than 80 automotive brands globally. With the transition from 4G to 5G, the automotive industry will experience a comprehensive transformation impacting vehicle development, sales, and ownership. TechInsights forecasts that within five years, more than 50% of new vehicle production will be 5G connected.

As part of the new programme, Avanci offers a license that covers thousands of patented technologies necessary for implementing cellular connectivity. More information about the Avanci 5G Vehicle programme, including the 59 initial participants and terms such as early adopter pricing for licensees, can be found on Avanci’s website.
