Shares of Tata Communications were trading 2% higher on 23 August following the announcement of a global cloud-based 5G Roaming Laboratory. This laboratory aims to support Mobile Network Operators (MNOs) by providing them with a platform to conduct Proof of Concepts (POCs) before introducing 5G services to their customers.

Additionally, Tata Communications stated that it plans to raise up to Rs 1,750 crore through the issuance of Non-Convertible Debentures (NCDs). The company will issue 1,75,000 NCDs with a face value of Rs 1,00,000 each, aggregating to ₹1,750 crore through private placements to eligible investors.

The cloud-based 5G Roaming Lab by Tata Communications will facilitate tests on the global mobile roaming experience by monitoring traffic flow and network usage. This will ensure the delivery of high-quality services for individuals using mobile phones while roaming.

Through this testing, MNOs will receive performance assessments across various networks during roaming, including evaluations of onboarding processes and internet trials on reliable, high-speed, and low-latency 5G networks.

Mysore Madhusudhan, Executive Vice President of Collaboration and Connected Solutions at Tata Communications, emphasized the importance of connectivity in today’s digital world. He stated that fast, secure, and reliable internet is crucial for both individuals and enterprises. The introduction of the 5G roaming testing capability aims to guarantee that MNO customers receive proven services.

At 2:25 pm, Tata Communications’ shares were trading at Rs 1,817.50, representing a 1.98% increase from their previous close on the NSE.
