Spectrum Internet Outage Leaves Customers in South Monterey County Without Service

Spectrum customers in south Monterey County have been experiencing an internet outage for over half a day. The outage occurred on Thursday night at around 11 p.m., according to Charter Communications.

A spokesperson from Charter Communications stated that the outage was caused by a downed utility pole, which resulted in damage to a third-party carrier’s fiber-optic network. This, in turn, affected the service for Spectrum customers in certain parts of Monterey County.

The power company is currently working on installing a new pole to replace the damaged one. Once the new pole is in place and the area has been deemed safe to access by the power company, repairs to the damaged fiber will begin. However, no estimated timeline for the repairs has been provided at this time.

In the meantime, the City of Soledad is reminding residents that they can utilize the free WiFi available at the Soledad Community Center as an alternative.

It is unfortunate that Spectrum customers in south Monterey County are experiencing this prolonged internet outage. However, Charter Communications is actively working to resolve the issue by replacing the damaged utility pole and repairing the fiber-optic network.
