Planet Labs Acquires Slovenia’s Geographic Information System Company Holding Sinergise

Planet Labs, a San Francisco-based provider of daily data and insights about Earth, has successfully completed its acquisition of Holding Sinergise, a prominent geographic information system (GIS) company based in Slovenia. The value of the deal has not been disclosed.

The two companies have been working in partnership since 2016, and this acquisition will further enhance the extraction of insights from Earth Observation data for their customers.

Sinergise, headquartered in Ljubljana, will contribute to the progress of Planet’s Earth Data Platform by enhancing its capacity to efficiently distribute Earth Observation (EO) data to its clients. Sinergise’s acclaimed Sentinel Hub, a sophisticated cloud streaming platform driven by APIs, allows users to access a wide range of EO data from various sources for processing, analysis, and extraction of valuable insights.

Planet is committed to advancing the EO community, with a focus on increasing capabilities and promoting an open standard that promotes enhanced interoperability among global users.

The skilled team at Sinergise will seamlessly integrate into Planet’s European operations, strengthening the company’s presence in Europe, which will now include two additional offices in Slovenia and Austria. This expansion aligns with Planet’s dedication to driving advancements within the European space community and their ongoing commitment to innovation and progress.

This acquisition marks Planet’s sixth since 2015.
