Malaysia Airlines Chooses Viasat IFC Solution for New Boeing 737-8 Fleet

Malaysia Airlines has announced that it will be utilizing Viasat’s in-flight connectivity (IFC) solution for its upcoming Boeing 737-8 fleet. The installation of the new system is expected to begin later this month.

With flight routes covering Malaysia and Southeast Asia, Malaysia Airlines plans to leverage Viasat’s Ka-band satellite network in the region. This includes the upcoming launch of the third ViaSat-3 satellite, which will provide coverage for the Asia-Pacific region.

In addition to this partnership, Malaysia Airlines already operates its own wireless in-flight entertainment system called MHstudio. The airline is dedicated to enhancing the customer experience and aims to provide personalized offerings and exceptional onboard experiences.

Ahmad Luqman Mohd Azmi, CEO of Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG), expressed the airline’s commitment to innovation and continuous improvement. The introduction of the new in-flight entertainment system is just one aspect of their efforts to empower passengers with on-demand entertainment throughout their journey.

Viasat has been successful in securing several IFC contracts, including Delta’s free on-board Wi-Fi. Other notable partnerships include Virgin Atlantic, Southwest Airlines, Breeze Airways, and KLM Royal Dutch Airlines.

This collaboration between Malaysia Airlines and Viasat highlights the growing importance of in-flight connectivity for airlines, as passengers increasingly rely on staying connected and entertained while in the air.
