Lawmakers and PS Clash Over Development Issues in Bungoma

Two lawmakers and a PS engaged in a heated exchange on Monday regarding development issues in Bungoma. MPs John Makali (Kanduyi), Jack Wamboka (Bumula), and PS Edward Kisiang’ani clashed over the implementation of projects in the county.

During the launch of the County CIDP at Kibabii University, MP Wamboka criticized the Kenya Kwanza government for not fulfilling its promises regarding the revival of the Nzoia sugar company and the upgrading of road networks in the region.

In response, PS Kisiang’ani dismissed Wamboka’s claims, stating that the MP is often absent during consultative meetings with President William Ruto regarding the region’s projects. He urged Wamboka to join Kenya Kwanza and work together to stay informed about ongoing developments.

In his defense, Wamboka vowed to remain in the opposition to ensure that the government is held accountable, claiming that his oversight is crucial for the benefit of Kenyans.

The PS emphasized the President’s commitment to reviving Nzoia sugar and stated that progress is being made. However, Kisiang’ani criticized the Western MPs for not reaching out to him as agreed during previous meetings held in Nairobi and Eldoret, which provoked MP Makali.

Makali accused Kisiang’ani of evading their calls and hindering the region’s development. He argued that unity is necessary for progress and blamed the PS for causing confusion and refusing to work with MPs from the region.

Governor Kenneth Lusaka, who launched the County CIDP, chose not to engage in the altercation. Other attendees included deputy governor Jennipher Mbatiany, Senator Wafula Wakoli, Assembly speaker Emmanuel Situma, Devolution PS Terry Mbaika, MCAs, County CECs, and others.
