Immersed, a company known for its work in AR/VR technology, has revealed its next-generation headset called Visor. Unlike previous attempts to popularize AR/VR headsets, Immersed’s Visor offers a design that solves the problem of uncomfortable fit commonly associated with these devices. The headset is styled like sunglasses or smart glasses, weighs only 25% of a smartphone, and can be custom fit for users to ensure a comfortable experience. It also features wireless connectivity and an optional backstrap for improved comfort.

One of the key highlights of the Visor is its weight. If Immersed delivers on its promise, a mixed-reality headset that is lighter than a smartphone could be a game-changer. The Meta Quest 2, for example, weighs 503 grams, while the largest iPhone 14 Pro Max weighs 240 grams. Despite its lightweight design, the Visor boasts impressive specifications. It includes a 4K Micro OLED display per eye, a 100-degree field of view, the ability to open up to five screens simultaneously, built-in six degrees of freedom tracking, HD color passthrough, and compatibility with Apple, Windows, and Linux.

Immersed has also teased a partnership with an undisclosed tech giant to enhance the Visor experience. In the past, the company has collaborated with major technology companies like Meta. The Visor represents Immersed’s first foray into hardware development.

Unlike Apple’s AR/VR headset, which was criticized for its bulky design, the Visor prioritizes comfort and is designed specifically for work-related use cases. It is aimed at professionals seeking a comfortable and user-friendly device for their work environments.

The Visor will be released in 2024, and interested individuals can join the waitlist for updates. The price of the headset is yet to be revealed by Immersed.
