Telecommunication Service Providers Committed to Supporting Malaysia’s Madani Economy Framework

Telecommunication service providers in Malaysia have expressed their commitment to supporting the government’s Madani Economy framework by ensuring affordable connectivity and devices. In a joint statement, five major telecommunication companies, namely CelcomDigi Bhd, Maxis Bhd, Telekom Malaysia Bhd (Unifi Mobile), U Mobile Sdn Bhd, and YTL Communications Sdn Bhd (Yes), welcomed the government’s recent announcement on the 5G Rahmah package and Rahmah Civil Servants Postpaid Incentive.

The 5G Rahmah package and Rahmah Civil Servants Postpaid Incentive are set to be launched on August 31, 2023. The telecommunications companies advise customers to visit their websites for more information on the available packages.

In conjunction with the National Month celebrations, the government has introduced the Rahmah Civil Servants Postpaid Incentive, which provides civil servants with a monthly rebate of RM10 on their postpaid mobile packages starting from August 31. This incentive was announced by the Communications and Digital Minister, Fahmi Fadzil.

Furthermore, the Ministry of Communications and Digital, in collaboration with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), telecommunication service providers (telcos), and device manufacturers Samsung Malaysia and Honor Malaysia, will also be offering the 5G Rahmah package starting August 31. This package includes a 5G device bundle data plan priced at RM60 per month. Customers will have the option to choose between a Samsung A14 5G or Honor 90 Lite 5G device, with prices as low as RM240.

The telecommunication service providers are dedicated to working closely as an industry to bridge the digital divide and ensure that affordable connectivity and devices are accessible to all Malaysians. Their commitment aligns with the government’s efforts to promote the Madani Economy framework and create a digitally inclusive society.
