Telecom Services’ AGR Rises Sequentially to Rs 64,494 Crore in March Quarter: TRAI

According to the latest report by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), the Adjusted Gross Revenue (AGR) of Telecom Services in India rose sequentially to Rs 64,494 crore in the March quarter.

This increase in AGR can be attributed to the growth in the number of subscribers and higher consumption of data and voice services. The telecom sector has witnessed a surge in demand due to increased internet usage, remote working, and online education.

The AGR represents the revenue earned by telecom operators from their licensed services. It includes charges such as license fees, spectrum usage charges, and other regulatory fees. The growth in AGR indicates the overall health and performance of the telecom industry.

The telecom sector in India has been experiencing intense competition and consolidation in recent years. Several telecom operators have merged or exited the market, leading to a reduction in the number of players. This has resulted in improved pricing power for the remaining operators and has contributed to the increase in AGR.

The report also highlights that the top five telecom operators in India accounted for 97.01% of the total AGR in the March quarter. The leading operator in terms of AGR was Reliance Jio, followed by Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Idea.

With the increasing demand for data and digital services, telecom operators are investing in network infrastructure to enhance connectivity and improve the quality of services. They are also focusing on expanding their customer base and offering innovative and affordable plans to attract more subscribers.

In conclusion, the telecom services’ AGR in India has witnessed a sequential rise to Rs 64,494 crore in the March quarter. This growth can be attributed to factors such as an increase in the number of subscribers and higher consumption of data and voice services. The telecom sector is expected to continue evolving and catering to the growing demand for digital connectivity in the country.
