Starlink to Provide Internet Connectivity to Aid Organizations in Gaza

Elon Musk has announced that Starlink, the satellite internet constellation owned by SpaceX, will offer internet connectivity to internationally recognized aid organizations in Gaza. Musk made this statement in response to a tweet by US Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who criticized the cutting off of communication to the population of 2.2 million in Gaza.

This decision by Musk follows a report by NetBlocks indicating a collapse in internet connectivity in the Hamas-controlled enclave. The support of Starlink will enable aid organizations, journalists, medical professionals, and innocent civilians to access the internet, ensuring their connection to the outside world.

The move also highlights Elon Musk’s belief that Iran is a victim of American aggression. In another tweet, Musk shared a photo showing a map of Iran dotted with American military bases surrounding the country, suggesting that Iran wants war. This post implies Musk’s perspective on the delicate relationship between the US and Iran.

It is worth mentioning that Musk previously stated that his company did not receive any requests for internet access from the Starlink terminals located in Gaza. However, he confirmed that if such requests were made by aid organizations, Starlink would allow connectivity to support their efforts.

This initiative by Starlink will significantly contribute to the humanitarian efforts in Gaza by ensuring reliable and accessible internet connectivity for aid organizations. It aligns with Elon Musk’s vision to extend communication services to underserved regions, bridging the digital divide and empowering communities in need.
