SpaceX Falcon 9 Launches Starlink Satellites

Late Wednesday night, a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket successfully launched from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station, carrying more Starlink internet satellites into orbit. The rocket, standing at 230 feet tall, lifted off from Launch Complex 40 and followed a trajectory over the Atlantic Ocean, passing between the Florida coast and the Bahamas.

This mission, known as Starlink 6-10, was the 42nd launch of the year from the Space Coast. It deployed 22 additional satellites, contributing to SpaceX’s ever-growing constellation of internet-beaming satellites. Since 2019, the company has sent over 5,000 of these satellites into orbit.

The Starlink internet service, which offers connectivity for various applications, such as in-flight services and remote locations, has a starting price of 0 for residential customers. This includes an initial hardware fee of 9.

Looking ahead, the next Falcon 9 launch from Florida is scheduled to carry NASA’s SpaceX Crew-7 mission to the International Space Station. This mission, set to take place on Friday, August 25th at 3:49 a.m. EDT, will transport astronauts from NASA, the European Space Agency, the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency, and the Russian space agency Roscosmos.

While SpaceX may plan another Falcon 9 Starlink mission in the near future, specific launch dates have not been announced. To stay updated on the latest launch schedules, visit floridatoday.com/launchschedule.
